Following the huge success of their recruitment days for the Marriott Hotel South and the shops on the New Mersey Retail Park in 2002, JET South Liverpool and Jobcentre Plus have arranged another open day to help recruit staff for almost 300 vacancies over the Christmas period this year.

The recruitment day will take place at the Marriott Hotel, opposite the New Mersey Shopping Park on Speke Road, between 10:00am and 5:00pm on Friday 12 September. Managers and staff from the Marriott Hotel itself, WH Smith, Comet, Gap, Borders, HMV, Next, Early Learning Centre, Currys, Boots, Argos, Burtons/ Dorothy Perkins and Matalan will be available to discuss the vacancies that will run from October and November until early January 2004.

Carol Jost from JET South Liverpool's Business Support Team explained "there are lots of job opportunities being created in South Liverpool and by working closely with employers and Jobcentre Plus we're trying to make sure that as many of the jobs as possible are filled by people living in Speke, Garston and Netherley Valley."

Carol continued: "With the growth of the Airport, the proposed Wings Leisure Park and loads of city centre job opportunities, even the temporary vacancies have great longer-term prospects. Many of the people that attended last year's event have since moved on to gain permanent employment".
