In July, JET South Liverpool and the Streets Ahead team hosted a Teddy Bears' Picnic with Jobcentre Plus, Shaw Trust, Reed in Partnership and others to promote the support that's available for lone parents. A range of fun activities were organised for both parents and children to help encourage people to come along and find out more about the wide range of support that's available.

If you're a lone parent there's a wide range of support available to help you start work. Contact either Streets Ahead on 448 7866 or JET South Liverpool on 448 1131 to arrange to meet an advisor who can:

  • get to know a little about you so you end up with a job you can enjoy
  • calculate how much better off you could be in a job
  • discuss with you what kind of job you would like to get
  • draw up an action plan to help you get that job
  • help you look and apply for suitable jobs or help you find training opportunities
  • help you find and organise registered childcare
  • help you with expenses that may occur during your job search
  • explain which benefits you will be entitled to once you start work
  • continue to offer you help and advice even after you have found work
