STREETS AHEAD UPDATE
The Streets Ahead initiative was launched in South Liverpool in Summer 2003 following work by JET South Liverpool to promote job opportunities in the area.

Staff from agencies such as JET South Liverpool, Jobcentre Plus, Greater Merseyside Connexions, the Citizen Advice Bureaux and local housing associations have formed a team that visits houses in Speke, Garston and Netherley Valley to promote not only job and training or further education opportunities, but to explain the wide range of support that is on offer.

The team have been seen in their distinctive coats and t-shirts at a wide range of events across south Liverpool including Speke Carnival and the Teddy Bear's Picnic that was recently held at JET South Liverpool's offices in Speke.

The initiative is proving so successful that Streets Ahead teams are now being set up in four more areas in Liverpool and should be operational in Alt Valley, Eastern Link, Liverpool Atlantic and South Central by September 2004.
