Childcare Skills Passport: New Course Date
Following the success of the previous Skills Passport, JET South Liverpool have again joined forces with Jobcentre Plus, Liverpool Children's Information Services and Adult Learning Services to deliver another Childcare Skills Passport, this is an innovative approach which will address skilled staff shortages expected within the childcare sector, due to Liverpool City Council's commitment to the expansion of childcare places.

The Skills Passport was developed with employers to find out what they were looking for in the ideal job applicant and what skills and qualifications would they need to influence an interview to offer one person a job instead of another. The information gained from employers has been the framework for the training, which will take place over a four-week period.

The course incorporates the 'Making Choices' programme which gives people an overview of opportunities available throughout the childcare sector, the course also consists of generic skills that could apply to any industry, such as Health & Safety, Risk Assessment, Diversity etc. whilst the sector specific training will contain such subjects as Paediatric First Aid, Child Safeguarding and Basic Child Development.

An awareness session has been arranged for 19th September 2007 in Park Road Adult Learning Centre. Due to the funding the course is only available to unemployed Liverpool residents.
