PASSPORT TO JOB OPPORTUNITIES WITH JET
JET South Liverpool is currently working with a number of employers and training organisations in the area to develop a range of "skills passports" that are designed to give local people a competitive edge when applying for local jobs.

The idea is that every employer has an idea about their ideal job applicant and the qualifications they would hold. The JET team are working with local businesses to find out what qualifications would influence an interview to offer one person a job instead of another.

This information is then being used to encourage local training organisations to arrange courses for people living in south Liverpool that lead to the relevant qualifications or experience.

Courses planned for 2003/4 will help people access jobs in the retail and customer service sectors, including the airport and the New Mersey Shopping Park, and jobs with small and medium sized companies in the engineering and automotive sectors.
