Fun In The Sun
When the Met Office issued a severe weather warning for rain and gales on 14th August, the Streets Ahead barely paused to consider whether to cancel the Fun In The Sun event planned for that day. We decided to carry on regardless and try to provide a little bit of sun - and fun - for the local residents in Garston Under The Bridge in the Urban Village Hall.

Unfortunately we hadn't counted on the big Bouncy Castle being too big to fit in the Multi Hall and it still had to go outside, acting more like a waterslide than a Bouncy Castle! The younger boys seemed to enjoy it though, even though they were thoroughly soaked through after only a minute or two.

Inside, many of our Partner Agencies joined us including SLH, Reed, Pertemps, Sensia, NMS, NHS, CAB and Youthpoint giving out help and advice to visitors. Marie Curie's Face Painter, Pat also attended and gave the children's faces some beautiful designs.

The Neighbourhood Management Services team, while providing information to local residents, also invited them to fill out a card with their details and attach it to a helium balloon. The balloons were later released into a grey and rainy sky, temporarily filling it with many colours.

Streets Ahead held a Teddy Bear's Picnic and invited local children under 5 to make some unusual and interesting crafts before joining the tiny teddies in the woods for a picnic. We were also joined by the children from the Hilda Mason Nursery who brought all their own teddies with them in a pram!

Despite the torrential rain, many people attended the day, and were able to access their local services whilst having a little bit of fun along the way!

If you need any help or advice but don't know where to start, please contact the Streets Ahead team on 0151 293 8370 who will point you in the right direction.
