Shelaine then arranged another meeting with Jan to help her apply to JET South Liverpool for an Employment Discretionary Grant from the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund.

Following approvals for support from the Action Team and JET South Liverpool, Jan was able to start the final stage of her training with the New Century Driving School in July. Jan called into the JET office in Speke to thank the team for all their help.

"Without the help of Shelaine and the team at JET South Liverpool, I don't know what I'd have done" said Jan. "I was determined to become a Driving Instructor and managed to get through the first two stages on my own, but the final stage was just too much for me."

Jan added: "The team were really great and helped me to understand about all these other organisations that are able offer support, but without the JET I wouldn't have known who to turn to. Thanks to their help I'm now half way through the final stage of my training and will soon have achieved my ambition to become a fully qualified Driving Instructor!"
