Jayalal Madde, Easirent

After applying for Liverpool City Council's Diversity and Social Inclusion programme, Jayalal Madde started a 12 month placement with JET South Liverpool in November 2006 as a Trainee Receptionist.

Jay, who is originally from Sri Lanka, took on the role of Receptionist in order to get some UK work experience and gain some qualifications. Whilst working at JET South Liverpool Jay completed an ESOL and ECDL course. He also attended night classes to gain a SAGE qualification and has recently started an AAT course.

Jay has a banking/accounting background and his goal has always been to find employment within an accounting or finance role. With the help and support of his colleagues and the Guidance Officers in JET, he has applied for jobs, attended a number of interviews and has even worked on a voluntary basis with an accountancy firm in a bid to gain valuable experience.

Finally - with only 3 days left before the end of his placement - Jay was offered a full time job as a Purchase Ledger Clerk with Easirent.

Jay says: "I will never forget my time at Jet South Liverpool as it gave me a great exposure to the office environment in the UK, whilst enabling me to gain the relevant training and qualifications I needed to further my career".
