Danielle Parkinson, IM Marsh

Danielle recently visited Garston Community House looking for help to get her into work. She has worked voluntarily in a number of roles since leaving school but due to bad health and periods in hospital, she was unable to take on a more permanent role.

Now feeling better and ready to try again, she made an appointment to visit the Streets Ahead JET Internet Café and discuss her needs with the Guidance Officer, Shirley.

Shirley took all Danielle's details and devised an Action Plan on how to proceed. After browsing the vacancies online, Danielle chose one for a Trainee Events Assistant. The position was a Full Time one for 12 months. Shirley downloaded the application form which she helped Danielle fill in and drew up a CV.

While waiting for a response, Shirley referred Danielle to Dawn, the Disability Advisor at JobCentre Plus who arranged for a Discretionary Grant to buy interview clothes for Danielle. She also ran a Benefit Check and a Better Off Calculation so Danielle knew what her income would be should she be successful in gaining employment.
