Following a comprehensive report on child poverty she had written, Doreen Dunmore the Manager of JET South Liverpool was invited to Whitehall, in London to meet with Peter Hain the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions to discuss ideas.
The Liverpool JET Service
Do you look at the vacancies on this website? Do you find what you are looking for? Whilst we update the vacancies on this site weekly, there are lots of other vacancies and opportunities on offer each week in your local JET. This website will focus on jobs mainly in the south Liverpool area; however, the Liverpool JET Service covers all of Merseyside, with offices in Norris Green, Dovecot, Dingle, Wavertree, Kirkdale, Belle Vale and Speke. Each office will handle vacancies for their area. You can go along to your local JET to view vacancies throughout the city.
Streets Ahead Internet Café
The Streets Ahead Internet Café started in February 2007 in Garston Urban Village Hall to encourage clients looking for work or training to use the internet as many employers now prefer applications on line. Refreshments are provided and a relaxed atmosphere is encouraged.
Free Bus Pass for Pathways Area Residents
Starting a new job or training?If you live in a Pathways area, you could be entitled to a one-month free bus pass. Liverpool city council have been successful in obtaining a grant from European Regional Development Funding to establish a Neighbourhood Travel Team who will support the needs of residents of Pathways areas in Liverpool. The Neighbourhood Travel Team aims to address the transport barriers which may directly impact on an individuals life chances. The team will work with people helping them to plan journeys and provide travel cards where necessary. If you would like to find out if you are eligible, contact your nearest JET or Jobcentre for more details. Aspire: Supporting you after you start work
The Aspire Programme is a local initiative that has been set up to help people remain in long-term employment. It is a nine-month scheme that is designed to offer continued support, advice and guidance to people who are starting work after a lengthy absence.
