South Liverpool PCT's annual budget for 2002/3 was over £90 million, spent as follows:

Hospital services	£58.2 million
Prescribing	£15.4 million
Other Health Care	£6.9 million
Community Health Services	£4.7 million
Doctors and practice staff	£3.0 million
Administration	£2.0 million

Extra resources are being spent to:

• Further reduce the time people have to wait to see their doctor
• Speed up times to obtain a hospital appointment or admission
• Help more people stop smoking
• Improve the uptake of cervical screening and vaccinations and immunisations
• Ensure more treatment is undertaken in local health facilities, so that less people have to visit hospital
• Establish a new GP practice in West Speke
• Recruit more doctors and nurses
• Increase the support available to people with anxiety and depression
• Employ more local people in the NHS
• Improve access to services for people with heart disease
